Historical Background

The Dental Department was established in 2003 by a Doctor of Dental Surgery, marking the formal beginning of oral healthcare services in the institution. Before its establishment, dental care was provided by foreign volunteers and clinical nurses in partnership with various organizations. The primary aim of the department was to deliver specialized oral health services, with a particular focus on supporting patients with leprosy, tuberculosis, and related conditions. Over time, the department expanded its services to address the growing demand for comprehensive maxillofacial care. In 2022, the department broadened its scope to include both inpatient and emergency services, which significantly increased patient flow and impacted the department's annual performance positively.
