We provide comprehensive imaging services for both routine and emergency cases, playing a crucial role in supporting other medical specialties in their diagnostic and treatment processes. Alert Comprehensive Specialized Hospital

Historical Background

Even though the imaging department was established in 2018EC to address the growing need for specialized diagnostic radiology services, radiology service was started more than 50Years ago via plain radiography. Since its inception, the department has evolved into a leading unit providing comprehensive radiography, ultrasound and CT scan service via radiology specialists and sub-specialists. The department serves referral cases coming from Addis Ababa (mainly from two largest sub cities namely Kolfe Keranio and Nifas silk lafto) and every corner of the country.

Yearly Performance

Each year, the department achieves significant milestones, including

  • 31,000 plain x rays
  • 29,000 ultrasounds
  • 6,000 CT scans

Facilities and Equipment

The department is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to ensure high-quality care, including:

  • One 64 Slice multidetector CT
  • digital x-ray machines
  • 1 C-arm and 2 portable x-ray machines
  • 4 general purpose and 2 portable ultrasound machines

Teaching and Training Services

The department is actively involved in the training of:

  • Medical students
  • Medical radiology technologists

Our services are available in both the public and private wings during:

  • Weekdays: Working hours
  • Emergency & Inpatient Services: Available 24/7
  • Private wing service 11:30-2:00 LT

Services provided by the department

The department provides a comprehensive range of services, including:

  • CT scan and CTA
  • Digital radiology
  • Portable x ray services for ICU and critical patients
  • General Ultrasound, portable ultrasound [for critical and ICU patients] and Doppler ultrasound
  • Image(US/CT) guided biopsy/FNAC
  • Radiation protection and operation of C-Arm machines in the operation theater

  • Portable x ray for adult and neonatal ICU patients mostly CXR
  • Radiation protection as per radiation protection authority regulations and manipulation of operation theater C-arm machines
